About me
I am an integrative therapist which means I use different techniques within my practice to help clients navigate the difficulties they are experiencing. I am a trauma informed therapist and as such I ensure that we work safely and at your pace. I incorporate cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT), mindfulness, body awareness, and creative approaches with clients. Sometimes the use of the sand tray and art can offer clients a different perspective on the problem they may be facing.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults with various histories from childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, and relationship issues to name a few. Exploring your experiences in a safe, non-judgmental environment can help you develop healthy coping strategies, personal growth, and healing.

Adult Counselling
Psychotherapy is longer term, and helps you to get to know yourself on a deeper level, It helps you gain insight into your relationships and how you are in the world.
Where appropriate and agreed between therapist and client I use creative methods. These methods may include, sand tray, art, mindfulness, body psychotherapy, and others. This way of working can help in dealing with past trauma, improving self-image and self-confidence, while enhancing social and relationship skills.
Life is challenging and sometimes these challenges can feel overwhelming and difficult to manage. Having a safe, non-judgmental, supportive space to discuss these challenges can help you navigate them. Counselling can provide this either on a short-term or long term basis.
I know it can be daunting reaching out intially, taking that first step means you recognise something in your life is not working for you and how it may be imapcting other relationships in your life. You are ready for change.
Counselling can help with various difficulties. I can help if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, relationship issues, bereavment and loss, and trauma.

Child Counselling
Working therapeutically with children is different to working with adults and verbal counselling skills alone are not sufficient for the therapeutic outcome.
Children express themselves through play, play is how they communicate what is happening in their world. Play is their natural way of communicating. Working therapeutically with them using play, sand tray, miniature symbols, clay, art, storytelling, invites them to tell their own story.
Play therapy is led by the child which helps build trust and safety for them. Creating a child-centred environment assists the child through therapeutic change and stages during therapy. They can process and work through their big feelings, in a safe, non-judgmental space. It is a space where they can be themselves, aiding in the healing process,
Play therapy uses a range of approaches, interventions and activities that cater to each individual child’s needs.
Adolescent Counselling
As a parent we want what is best for our children and young people and it can be difficult when we know that they may be struggling and finding daily life hard to cope or deal with. Young people may find this difficult if they have had a recent or past trauma, anxiety, depression, difficulty sleeping, bereavement or loss to name a few.
Adolescence is a crucial period for developing social and emotional habits important for mental well-being. Adolescence is a challenging time and many factors can impact a young person including sleep patterns; exercising regularly; developing coping, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; and learning to manage emotions. Protective and supportive environments in the family, at school and in the wider community are important in helping our young people work through the difficulties they are facing.
I provide a safe non-judgmental space for young people to discuss the issues they are facing and how these may be affecting their day to day to day functioning and mental health.
